Park Lake

Janessa and I were bored and thought that we should get out and do something. So we decided to go to Park Lake with Jayne and her kids Grace, Noah and they were babysitting Taya. We had a lot of fun playing, splashing each other, talking and of course me trying to get even a little bit of a tan (I'm such a whitie). I think that children make you appreciate life a lot more as they are so interested with everything that is
around them. They make life fun!

And we all cried!

So it was a sad day in the Beer house yesterday as our beloved Oilers failed to win the coveted Stanley Cup. But we love our Oilers anyways and there is always next year! Go Oilers Go!.

PS. You can never bring down an oilers fan!

Glorious

Things that are glorious:
- snuggling on the couch with my husband
- lightening in the early morning
- staying up to listen to the rain
- patients saying thank you
- hot apple cider on a cool day
- little sisters coming over just to say hi
- breakfast with my mom
- helping another human being
- watching my flowers grow in my garden
- overtime wins on short handed goals
- not knowing what tomorrow brings

Does 2-1 mean anything to you?

Hey all,

We just got home from a fantastic time in Edmonton with the youth group. We arrived at a local church which was huge!! Great place to play sardines in, we played one round in over half an hour! We watch movies and the guys having a wrestling match. On Saturday we spent the entire day at West Ed Mall. We shopped, went in the water park for hours and of course had to try and find a restaurant that was playing the game. It wasn't that hard since everyone was cheering for edmonton. Funny though, we saw a guy walking in the mall wearing a Carolina Hurricans jersey. I'm very surprised that we didn't see him lying dead in one of the fountains! But in true oiler fashion we won and just have 3 more games till we bring home the cup. The drive home was also great as everyone was so tired they mostly slept but we still had some time for talking and laughing and just acting crazy. Youth just seem to keep you feeling young! presently I should be studying for my exam tomorrow but it true Bethany fashion I do everything else I possibly can before I do what really needs to get done. I'll hopefully post pictures later!

Always Changing

Some days I feel that the world... or at least my world is changing too fast. A few changes and unexpected bumps in the road I can handle but lately things seem to be getting out of hand. I wish things could just stop changing and that I could just relax and not worry about the next big change that will be happening. I want life to be predictable... not forever but even just for a little while would be nice for a change. But I suppose I need to work on just trusting that all of these changes are for a reason and that God won't give Jeff and I any more than we can handle (although some days I don't feel this way AT ALL). Well, enough of me whining.

This weekend is our final weekend with the youth group that we run and we are going to West Edmonton Mall. I know we are going to have a blast and hopefully become part of a riot when Edmonton finally wins a game in the series!

Love you all,

Bethany

Why are we renovating?

I'm tired and my back hurts. Latest project is renovating our house. We really needed new floors, especially where we had lovely grey tile in our living room. I've been trying to scrape tile glue off so we can lay some carpet. The house has a layer of grime EVERYWHERE from hammering out the tile. Everything is gross but I'm hoping that it will all be worth it in the long run.

Isn't it funny how when you have lots to do... you get even more to do. I didn't get called for work for almost a week and now when I need to finish the house and a homework assignment I get called and am working more but have yet to finish the rest.

But on an exciting note, tomorrow a bunch of other nurses and I are in the Relay for Life to raise money for cancer research. We get to stay up all night, hang out and walk/run. I'm sure we will have so much fun and best of all our colour that our team is is pink! I love pink.

Bringing it home!

Did everyone watch the game last night? It was absolutely amazing and finally our Oilers are heading to the finals and are going to bring the cup home! Yes, I totally and whole heartedly believe Edmonton is going to win it all. What can I say, the west is always better than the east. If only I could get my hands on a pair of Oilers tickets! Here's to at least four more hockey games!

Happy 23rd!

Much to his dismay, Jeff celebrated another birthday and is already tired of getting older. We've decided that after 18, birthdays are just not as exciting as they used to be. But even though he has these negative feelings towards aging, we had a great time getting together with some friends and family. And I guess he can't complain when he gets new toys to play with!
Happy birthday honey!

Zombie

Over the last few days I've been working a couple night shifts at the hospital and I've realized I'm such a baby and have such a difficult time rebounding from these.I go to bed right after but I still feel like a zombie after I wake up and sort of fly on auto pilot for the rest of the day. Then when it's night I can't sleep and I keep Jeff up. These sort of shifts just are so unnatural for the human species to work. We are meant to sleep during the night time! Well, I did know what I was getting myself into when I signed up for this wonderful career of nursing but I didn't think it would mess up my body like this. I'm going back to bed.

Weekend Getaway

This weekend was so great. Jeff and I finally were able to get away for our anniversary (the big #2) and went to Kalispell and Whitefish for some camping. We got this cute little cabin to stay in and our camp ground had all kinds of stuff to do including a hot tub and petting zoo!

We did all sorts of things including hiking, checking out nature, shopping and of course watching the hockey games (Oilers are up 2-0!!)

During our time in the states, we came to realize that Americans are funny people. We saw a bunch of stuff that we would never see in Canada. One of my favourites was a cross walk sign that stated "Stop when cross walk is occupied". No, I was just going to run them over! I don't understand. Then on our way home we found this exhibit. We decided we couldn't pass it up so we went in. It was a real life Jurrasic Park. We just drove around and looked at black and grizzly bears. It was so crazy but quite the adventure.

We had a wonderful weekend mostly just because we could spend it together. Jeff is not only my husband but my best friend. I'm incredibly blessed to have a man like him.

Oilers Rule!

Yesterday was momentous for us as our incredible Edmonton Oilers crushed the pathetic Sharks (sorry to all those sharks fans, but seriously, who cheers for them anyways!!). I had a bit of a rough time watching the game as I was working, but the occasional patient had it on their TV so I could sneak a peak at the score every once in a while. Then finally I had a break so I could watch the final moments of the game. This means that Jeff was extremely happy for the rest of the evening and we have a whole lot more hockey ahead of us. We just can't seem to get enough hockey and I think this may be our year!

Go Oilers Go!
