We move ton Friday from our quite little town to an even quiter, littler country house next to the church jeff got a job at. I'm nervous and incredibly excited to bring my little girl to a country home to raise her in and to bring out little boy home from the hospital to this little piece of paradise.

It's been  hard to say goodbye to certain people, we've made some incredible friends here and I will miss them dearly. I don't think I really open up to people quickly and pray that new friends come easily in our new community.

I've decided to start potty training after the move but my little girl is a stubborn one and i'm so scared that she will never decide to use the toilet but I'm learning that this stubborness will be amazing once transformed into perserverance and determination... it's just difficult when  you're 2 1/2. Why does parenting need to be so competative? I'm tired of hearing of your 18 month old that is already potty trained...

Our house has still not sold but I'm learning more and more to trust God with our needs. The constant in my life is that he will provide.

Jeff has been amazing these last few months. I'm sure he can't wait to have his normal wife back. He has handled this round of pregnancy hormones and emotions like a champ. Lots of hugs and reassurance has gotten me through lots of moments. How I love this man.

5 weeks to go till I meet our new addition to our family. I can wait to kiss his little face, stroke his soft cheeks and drink in that smell that only a newborn can have. We have longed for another child and we are blessed that he will soon be here. Although I'm a little sad that Jil and I will not have as much time and special moments just the two of us. I know things will change and that she is going to be an amazing big sister but having another child makes me realize how big she actually is and how fast my time with her is going. She is so precious. Her lastest is telling Jeff and I all the exciting things that have happened to her, seeing a bear in Waterton, the dog that ate her slurpee, seeing the giraffes, zebras and fighting monkeys at the zoo. She knows how to have a good time and to get everyone else to have a good time with her.

Sometimes i wish i could just slow life down, to enjoy it more and remember every last detail.

Full Circle

So my food adversions have returned! Yuck... literally. I had 7 glorious weeks of feeling pretty good, minus the reflux and exhaustion but at least I could eat, and eat, and eat. Now, whenever I make something for supper I just want gag. It's not to the throw up point but I just have that grossness in the pit of my stomach. I guess I'm back to fresh fruit, fruit smoothies (yummmm) and basic carbs. At least I know that this little man growing inside of me will be worth every moment of all the hardships. I can't wait to meet him.

Discourgaed

I am feeling discouraged. I've been working too much, have little to no energy for housework, cooking, cleaning and fun with the family. We've had NO ONE even look at our house, let alone put on offer on it and we still don't know what we are doing with our lives. It's all just a little much for a pregnant girl to manage.

My whole family had family pictures yesterday. 7 adults + 2 little ones and I think it went really well. My little one did have many moments of attitude but we perservered. Can't wait to see the final results.

Please give me patience, energy and a little hope for today.

Picking the Good Stuff.

I'm watching my daughter pick every last strawberry out of my spinach salad and eat them. It's not supper yet, but I put my fruity salad on the table in preparation for supper and she spotted them. I"m so glad when I see her at her young age like good and nutritious food. Did she just ask me 10 minutes ago for some chocolate chips....yes. But after a no from mom she looked on for the next best thing.

I hope I can model and teach the importance of good life choices and that my children will follow suit.

Jeff loved my homemade bread. I think this recipe is a keeper but I will  definately try some others over the next months.

Family pictures tomorrow, I hope I look pregnant enough and not just chubby. I hope we all smile and the photographer is able to catch some wonderful moments on film. I love my family and want it to show for the world to see.

My daughter's just informed me that "the strawberries are all done", I'd better go get some more.

Epic Fail

Worked overtime AGAIN today and when I got home my husband had already gotten fast food for supper. I was going to be an amazing wife and whip up something nutritious for dinner.

At least yesterday I weeded the strawberry plants and  trimmed the apple tree. This evening will not consist of anything all that production. Work just wipes me out. It would be nice to actually get a break to put my feet up once in a while and to feel appreciated by certain coworkers...haha yeah right.

I need to rid myself of my critical attitude. Today probably won't be the day.

Adventures in my Kitchen

Lately I've been thinking a lot about the food my family eats, why and where it comes from. Why do I rely on my grocery store so much and what can I do about it.

Do I love junk food, convenience food, and everything processed... most of the time. But I do try to avoid it. I know I can do better but what. I need to change small things and eventually it will turn to big things.

As a working mom who is pregnant and has a toddler, good food can be hard to come by but with a little meal planning (thank you taste of home website), getting a few days of groceries (planning helps to avoid those convenience foods) and trying to enjoy to make good food all help out. I've been doing better lately.

Today I made my first loaves of homemade bread. Yum. Why haven't I done this sooner? Will it sit on my counter for 2 weeks and not spoil. No! But then again what IS in that store bought bread? My honey whole wheat bread with flax tastes too good and wouldn't last that long anyway especially with my strawberry freezer jam made with local strawberries. next on the list, weed my strawberry plants so that those strawberries for this years jam will be very local and trim my apple tree, it does make the best pie fillling in town.

Hopefully my Betty Homemaker spirit keeps up!

Resolution, do not buy bread for the next 6 months.

On the table tonight, sticky glazed chicken and cucumber salad....

Another year in review.

On the occasion of my upcoming 25th birthday...yikes! I think I need to commemorate the event with a year in review. What a year it has been and I dare say it has been the best year of my life yet.
One year ago I was quite pregnant working lots, and anticipating the arrival of our little girl. Today I've been home for over 9 months with Anjileta and loving every minute of it ( well, most of the minutes). I just can't believe that in only a few short months I have to go back to work and leave my baby with someone else to watch her. I hope and pray that I will be able to juggle work, family and parenting along with a little time for mysef in there.

I love being a mom and Jil's beautiful smile make me so joyful. I have so much to be thankful for. A wonderful husband, my lovely girl, a great family, lots of friends and I thank God for these things daily. I am one spoiled girl.

I can't wait to see with the next year has to bring.

Does anyone check me anymore?

I doubt that anyone checks this anymore but if you do here are a few photos of my amazing and beautiful daughter Anjileta at 7 months of age. She is the happiest baby I know and also the most persistant baby I know. She knows what she wants and will make sure she gets it. She gives the best snuggles and goofiest looks. What a treasure she is!

Yeah, Yeah

Ok already...I know I suck at this blogging stuff and it's been forever since I updated the world with the happenings at the Beer house! The first and most important news is that Soccer Player #1 is on it's way!! We are expecting this new arrival December 25th and are so excited to meet this little person! Here are a few pics of my slowly growing tummy.

13 weeks

19 weeks22 weeks23 weeks

The las few are taken in England and France... yet that is the mediteranean sea that I am in!! We had a great time and saw so much stuff and ate lots of gelato!! we miss is already but it is good to be home!

March 14, 2008

well, we're home from our amazing trip to Campbell River to see Jeff's brother Ryan, his wife Amanda and meet their new son and our new nephew Keenan! It was such a relaxing time just hanging out with them, seeing the town, and getting to cuddle with our newest nephew. He is a gorgeous little man!

As you can see from the next picture, our family is obsessed with soccer and they all start soccer practice young.

the best part was probably the fire on the beach. Who else gets to say they had a bonfire on the beach in early March. but sadly I have no pictures of it becuase I was too busy taking pictures of Keenan. I miss him and his parents already. I also miss the flowers that are blooming out on the island!

February 20, 2008

I have a feeling that work just gets in the way of my life! Don't get me wrong, I like my job but I'm starting to feel like I live at the hospital. Today is my one and only day off all week... a full 24 hours....great. Tomorrow is technically work but it's learning fair so I basically sit there and then have a first aid class. Until our trip to Campbell River I don't have more than one day off at a time... what is up with that? And while I'm complaining I'll have everyone know that working nights literally kills you. Seriously, there have been studies done. If you haven't done it before you just can't know how terrible it is. Yes, I still get about 6 hours of sleep during the day but it's just not the same. Then I feel iritable and then I write crabby blogs like this one. Thanks for letting me rant! Cheers.

February 08, 2008

Here is Keenan Beer!! Ryan and Amanda has him on Feb. 3rd and he is beautiful. The next day Ryan had his appendix removed so it was quite an eventful few days for them! Jeff and I will be heading out to the island to see everyone in early March. We are soooo excited for another nephew!

January 28, 2008

Just have to show off my cute nephew. These were taken at Christmas. and we are also super excited for another niece or nephew, Ryan and Amanda are due any day!

January 08, 2008

This one's for carmen!

so we are finally home from and incredible week in Mazatlan, Mexico!

We left on the 28th from Calgary.... it was such an early morning! But it was worth it!

Arriving in Mazatlan we found out that the past few days and the next few were going to be the coldest it had been in January in 60 years!! Well it was 25 degrees but definately not bikini weather for me.

The first night we took the city bus, which is always an experience to the central market. It was also a meat market, yum pig heads and my blonde little sister sure did get some Mexican attention!! On the way back to the hotel we took one of the red trucks with a few seats in the back with a topper. These would not meet Canadian safety standards.

The next few days included trips to stone island, making dad go parasailing, laying on the beach, going to the market and walking tons!

One of the biggest highlights of the trip was the canopy tour on zip lines. We had so much fun and it was beautiful. Mostly it was so wonderful to spend relaxing time with Jeff and my family. My biggest stress in life was where I was going to soak up some sun! Anyways here are a few pictures but i have lots on facebook so check it out there!

December 09, 2007

I am so disappointed. The yearly hunt is called off and I will not be getting a Christmas tree. I know, I know, what a terrible thing at Christmas time. But realistically we just won't be around very much and we would have to take the tree down on Christmas Eve anyways (because we are going to MEXICO!!). So enough complaining I will just have to be satisfied with my smelly pine cones.... and I know Jeff, pine cones don't usually smell like cinnamon and cloves but I don't care. I love them anyways.

November 10, 2007

Jeff and I are back from an incredible few days at the Banff Springs Hotel. Each year the Canadian Baptist Pastors of Western Canada meet for a conference to learn and also to relax. The biggest perk is that the spouses get to go!!

First of all I must say that the Banff Springs Hotel is incredible...and huge... and overwhelming. We first drove up to it and I instantly know I would love this place and get lost numorous times inside of it.

They treat you like royalty here and I even hear that there are secret passageways and corridors in this scottish castle inspired building that they take special guests like the queen down, very intreging. Next year I guess we'll try take the tour.

We spent many hours walking around Banff and enjoying all that it had to offer. We learnt a lot about our God, how we do "church" and where we are going. I also learnt much about myself, my stuggle as a wife of a pastor (even though it has only been a few months) and what ministry means for me, not my husband. I feel reenergized and refreshed. I guess that's what spending time with your husband does combined with amazing food, conversation and scenery.

October 31, 2007

I've realized that it has been only a little while since i've posted anything and because of a few complaints thought I'd catch everyone up on our lives! Since the last post I've started work in Pincher Creek at the hospital and realized that I offically know nothing. Everything is different here and though many, many frustrations I've started to get into the swing of things and don't feel completely terrified to go to work. I've also gotten my toes wet in the areas of emergency and labor and delivery which are always interesting experiences.

I also noticed I haven't posted any pictures of my incredible nephew, Liam.
This is Liam one day old.

And this is Liam a few days ago, He's four months old already.

Jeff and I are also working on our house. It's 100 years old and in some real need for some updates. We decided to start upstairs with removing a few wall, painting, new carpet and redo the bathroom. Little progress has been made, mostly due to the lack of people in this town to do any work and also with Jeff being crazy busy with youth and school. he is really enjoying his work even though it can get stressful at time. There aren't alot of social things to do for a young married couple with no kids so our big date night is a nice walk to the post office to pick up the mail or a drive to the lake for a picnic and a walk. Nothing too extreme.

Last offical shift!!

So right now I'm in the middle of my last official shift in the Chinook Regional hospital. Although I'm excited to finally be offically in Pincher Creek I will really miss this place and the people I've worked with for the past two and a half years. I really love everyone here, the staff is amazing and I always leave with a smile on my face. I've grown so much here, personally and professionally. I've learnt lots of hard life lessons but have learnt so much and know that I will only continue to learn and grow where ever I am but this just feels like home. To all you 4Bers and 4Cers I love you guys and will remember my time here forever! You are all so wonderful and I will miss you and of course I will come to visit!

August 14, 2007

Carpet, carpet, carpet. The other day Jeff ripped out the carpet in the upstairs bedrooms. Yes it was gross and stained... what I call mystery stains... they are very bad, especially when you come home from work with a mystery stain... just think about it! Anyways the carpet is gone but now I need something else to go there which is why I had to go carpet shopping today. I know very little about the carpet world and am afraid I"ll get hosed. I found one that I like but need the Jeff approval before I buy and I suppose the bank account approval as well. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully we do it soon so that we can move into afinished room and start on our bedroom! I'm tired of sleeping in a lilac purple with yellow wallpaper room. What are people thinking sometimes?!?!

ON a different and rather grosser note.... I saw the biggest poop ever today! My job is ridiculous.
